Who is the youngest Philippine president? Kuya Kim answers


Did you know that there is a minimum age required to be a candidate for Philippine president?

According to Kuya Kim in the Eleksyon 2022: The GMA News Marathon Coverage, the Philippine Constitution states that presidential candidates must be at least 40 years old on election day.

Before the minimum age requirement was implemented, however, Emilio Aguinaldo is the youngest Philippine president.

Aguinaldo, the president of the first Philippine Republic, is 29 years old when he became president of the country.

Under the 40 years old requirement, meanwhile, former president Ramon Magsaysay is the youngest president of the Philippines.

Magsaysay, who served as president in 1953 until his death in 1957, was 46 years old when he was elected into office.

Outgoing president Rodrigo Duterte, meanwhile, is the oldest president. He was 71 years old when he was elected in 2016.

Other presidents who were senior citizens when they were elected were Carlos Garcia (60), Joseph Estrada (61) Fidel Ramos (64), Sergio Osmena (65).
