What time does voting start for Eleksyon 2022 and other voting reminders
On Monday, May 9, 2022, the Philippines will hold its national and local elections to elect a new set of public officials.
According to the Commission on Elections, the voting hours will be from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Prior to going to your polling place, make sure to check your status on COMELEC's online precinct finder so you will have no surprises on election day.
After checking, you may take the following steps:
1. Go to the voting center and get your temperature checked. If you have a fever or other COVID-19 symptoms, you can still vote in a designated isolation polling place.
2. Get your precinct, sequence numbers, and assigned room or clustered precinct at the Voter's Assistance Desk.
3. Go to the assigned room and state your name, precinct, and sequence numbers to the Electoral Board.
4. You will receive a ballot, ballot secrecy folder, and a marking pen. Check your ballot for any tears or marks before filling it out at the voting area.
5. Fully shade the oval before the name of the candidate you want to vote for. Make sure to vote only the maximum number allowed per position. Make sure to only use the marking pen provided by Comelec.
6. Feed the ballot into the Vote Counting Machine (VCM). Do not take a photo of your ballot. Do not take it out of the precinct.
7. Check your voter's receipt if the candidates you voted for are correct then deposit it in the receptacle. If not, report it to the Chairman of the Electoral Board so it can be officially recorded for future protests. Do not take a photo of your receipt.
8. Have the indelible ink put on your right forefinger.
Don't forget to bring a pen and valid ID, wear a mask, and follow health and safety protocols. Expect long lines so it would be good to arrive early. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring a fan or an umbrella should rains be in the forecast. Bring a water bottle as the lines can be long and the weather can be hot.
You are allowed to bring a kodigo of candidates you wish to vote for, but do not bring any campaign materials when you cast your vote. Are you looking for a downloadable sample ballot for the 2022 Philippine national and local elections? Use MyKodigo!
