Medialdea to lead presidential transition committee

Malacañang has created a body that would supervise the transition of power to the next administration less than two months before President Rodrigo Duterte steps down from office.

“The Office of the President created a transition committee chaired by Executive Secretary [Salvador] Bingbong Medialdea to prepare and implement the Office of the President’s transition plans,” acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar said at a Palace briefing on Wednesday.

However, Andanar has no information yet about the committee's other members.

The Duterte administration will end its six-year term on June 30, after the nation elects its new leaders on May 9.—VBL, GMA News
