4Ps party-list denies using government's '4Ps' program for Eleksyon 2022 agenda

The Pagtibayin at Palaguin ang Pangkabuhayang Pilipino (4Ps) party-list on Wednesday denied claims that it is using the government's conditional cash transfer program Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) for its own agenda ahead of the May 2022 elections.

In a statement, the 4Ps party-list disproved Senator Leila de Lima's statement that it is bearing an identical name with the government program and using a similar logo.

"Senator De Lima is maybe referring to and confused with the Progresibong Patutulungan sa Pag-unlad ng Pilipinas, another party-list group also using 4P’s as its acronym, but was disqualified by COMELEC," it said.

As regards the use of the 4Ps acronym, the party-list argued that nobody has the exclusive and absolute legal or proprietary title, ownership and right to use 4Ps, to the exclusion of all others.

Further, the acronym 4Ps has been in use in other areas, fields or discipline, such as “product, price, place and promotion” in marketing; “purpose, population, procedure and publication” in research; and “personal, positioning, promotion and persistence” in job search, long before the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

The 4Ps party-list pointed out that as early as December 2021, it has consistently said that it does not claim, and will never claim, to be associated with the 4Ps Program of the national government, and will never use the government’s conditional cash transfer program for its political agenda.

However, one of its key programs is pushing for the enhancement of the 4Ps Program’s policies, mechanisms, systems and procedures by introducing appropriate amendments to the 4Ps Law (Republic Act No. 11310) for the benefit of 4Ps Program beneficiaries. —Jamil Santos/KG, GMA News
