Tricia Robredo also seeks NBI help over Aika's fake sex video
Tricia Robredo, the second daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo, has also asked for the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) over the fake video of her sister Aika.
According to Robredo’s camp, a letter was sent to the NBI on April 21 to determine possible cybercrimes committed against Aika.
Last week, Aika formally sought the assistance of the NBI to investigate similar misleading posts in blogs, porn sites, and social media platforms.
“Although she’s busy helping her mother’s presidential bid, Dr. Robredo realized that if these perpetrators are not unmasked and prosecuted before the courts, other persons might be subjected to the same vicious and criminal acts,” the Robredo camp said in a statement.
“Robredo is hoping that the NBI can identify the first post, the username(s) and/or account(s), the sites or links and the IP addresses, and the identities of the perpetrators so they can file appropriate charges,” it added.
Atty. Pinky Bernabe, counsel of Robredo, clarified that the mere use of Aika's name in the online posts is tantamount to gender-based online sexual harassment under Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act.
She said Section 3(e) and Section 12 of the Safe Spaces Act “contemplate unwanted sexual remarks and comments online as gender-based online sexual harassment. Whether or not there is an actual video is not even relevant.”
“Our client is never one to seek special treatment. We hope the NBI would identify the perpetrator/s behind these posts,” Bernabe added.
The Vice President earlier accused the camp of fellow presidential candidate and former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. of being behind the smear campaign against her eldest daughter Aika.
