Sara on Gadon: We both have disbarment cases

Just like her senatorial candidate Larry Gadon, vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Friday said a disbarment case filed against her remained pending.

At a campaign rally in Laguna, Duterte disclosed that she still had a pending disbarment suit as she introduced Gadon.

"Pareho kami nito may disbarment. Pareho kami nakasuhan ng disbarment. Hindi pa tapos sa iyo? Hindi pa rin tapos sa akin," Duterte said.

(We are both facing a disbarment case. Yours is still pending? Mine is also pending.)

Duterte said she would get Gadon as her lawyer for her disbarment case because the latter had experience on this kind of suit.

"Dahil sa pagmumura... may disbarment. Galit sa bobo. Sa tunay na pagbabago, pumili ng bago na hindi bobo. Senator Larry Gadon," Duterte said.

"Kukunin kong abogado ito sa disbarment ko dahil may experience sa disbarment cases," she added.

(Because of cursing, he's facing a disbarment case. He's annoyed with stupid people. If you want change, pick a new candidate who is not stupid. I will get this lawyer for my disbarment case as he has experience on this.)

The Supreme Court in January ordered the preventive suspension of Gadon over a viral video in which he hurled profanities against journalist Raissa Robles.

According to the SC Public Information Office, Gadon's preventive suspension is effective immediately and will last until lifted by the court.

The SC also told Gadon to show cause why he should not be disbarred in connection with the viral video.

Gadon's video on December 15, 2021 went viral. He appeared furious at Robles after the latter called presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.  a tax evader.

Marcos was convicted by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court 105 in 1995 for failure to file his income tax returns for taxable years 1982 to 1985 and for the latter’s failure to pay the corresponding deficiency taxes.

Duterte's disbarment case, meanwhile, stemmed from an incident in July 2011 when she punched a court sheriff during a demolition of informal settler's shanties.

President Rodrigo Duterte had joked before that his daughter should be jailed for punching the court sheriff. —NB, GMA News
