Ka Leody condemns smear campaign against Aika Robredo
Labor leader Leody de Guzman on Tuesday expressed support for Aika Robredo as he condemned the recent malicious attack against the eldest daughter of fellow presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Kinokondena ko ang tahasang pambabastos kay Aika Robredo sa lumabas na pekeng iskandalosong video,” de Guzman said in a press statement Tuesday.
(I condemn the clear violation against Aika Robredo in the form of a fake scandalous video.)
(This kind of smear campaign that also happened with Senator Leila De Lima along with the spread of disinformation is a trademark of the rotten politics of the factions of former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and President Rodrigo Duterte, even if they say that only their supporters are behind it.)
Earlier in the day, Robredo said the Marcos camp was behind the smear campaign against her daughter. Marcos spokesperson Vic Rodriguez denied the allegation and accused her of deception.
De Guzman, for his part, came in defense of the incumbent vice-president and said: “Kalokohan ang alegasyon ni Atty.
(Attorney Vic Rodriguez's accusation that the video came from Robredo’s camp is ridiculous. Why would they do this shameful thing to someone they support?)
He then called on other presidential aspirants to “uplift” the quality of discourse and instead “fight” on how they would address the country’s current plight.
