1 reported dead and 1 missing, 2 confirmed injured due to Agaton —NDRRMC


The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Monday said one person was reported dead, one was reported missing, and two were confirmed injured due to Tropical Depression Agaton.

The reported fatality and missing person are from Region 11, while the injuries are confirmed to be from Region 10, according to NDRRMC's 8 a.m. situation report.

In a message to reporters, the NDRRMC said the reported casualties from the Davao Region are still for validation.

The NDRRMC also said that 136,390 people or 86,515 families were affected by Agaton in 201 barangays in Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Bangsamoro.

A total of 52 houses were damaged—49 partially and three totally—in Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.

Also, a total of P874,000 worth of damage in agriculture were also reported in Soccsksargen and Bangsamoro, according to the NDRRMC.

The NDRRMC said 195 flooding incidents, 13 landslides, six flash floods, and an overflowing river were reported due to Agaton.

At least 16 roads and four bridges were not passable.

According to NDRRMC, a total of 15 cities and municipalities experienced power interruption, of which, four have been restored.

Two areas also experienced water supply interruptions.

A total of 38 ports have suspended trips or have implemented suspension of operations. A total of 2362 passengers, 1180 rolling cargoes, six vessels, and a motor banca were stranded in some affected regions.

A total of 62 classes and 56 work schedules have been suspended due to Agaton, the NDRRMC added.

On Monday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tropical Storm Agaton (international name: Megi) has weakened into a tropical depression.

However, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was still in effect over 11 areas in the country. —KG, GMA News
