Kiko gets farmers' group endorsement in Pampanga
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga - Senator and vice presidential bet Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan on Saturday clinched the support of a farmers' group in this province.
This developed after Pangilinan and his running mate, Vice President and presidential candidate Leni Robredo, got the traditional raising of hands as a sign of endorsement from the farmers hailing from San Nicolas, Pampanga, at the campaign rally that drew a huge crowd.
"Kahit simpleng tao lang kami, ipapanalo namin sina Sir Kiko at Maam Leni. Nagpunta kami rito kahit na may trabaho kami," one of the farmers said at the rally.
"Leni-Kiko tayo," added another farmer.
Pangilinan, an advocate for agriculture, responded by saying that the will of the people will ultimately prevail over any other political endorsement.
"Iyong ilang pulitiko...hindi naman natin sila pwede ipwersa, karapatan nila na mag endorso. Pero para sa taumbayan, Leni-Kiko pa rin," he said.
A number of politicians have been pushing to pair Robredo with either Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte or Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
Last month, Pangilinan said efforts to pair Robredo with a different running mate were meant to confuse voters and would not prosper. —VBL, GMA News
