Redemptorists say Eleksyon 2022 ‘choice between good and evil’
The Redemptorists called on Filipinos to respond to their "moral obligation" of voting for leaders who can lead the nation out of its dark episode in Eleksyon 2022.
“As Redemptorists, it is our duty to guide the faithful to make the right decision based on an informed conscience. Although we avoid partisanship, we cannot remain neutral in the face of evil, deception, and suffering,” they said in a statement Wednesday.
“This is no longer simply a matter of politics but of moral judgment – a choice between good and evil, between light and darkness, between truth and lies. Ultimately, we will vote according to our conscience,” they added.
They warned the voters not to be deceived by “self-serving and incompetent candidates motivated by the greed for power, wealth and glory.”
"We must choose the leader who can lead the nation out of darkness into the light," said the missionaries that has foundations allover the country and over 100 member priests, brothers and temporary professed students.
The members of the apostolic community said that nation's fate depends on the choices the people will make in the elections.
"We are at a critical juncture which will determine whether the reign of darkness will continue or our country will finally see the light," they said.
They added the people have been witness to the administration's war on drugs that claimed many lives, "militarization" of Lumad communities, red-tagging of human rights defenders, attack on the press through fake news, corruption in government and further suffering of the people amid COVID-19.
“A good leader must also have competence, a proven track record, adequate knowledge, and skills, and a system of accountability and transparency,” they said.
“He or she must also have love for the people, will work for the empowerment of the poor, must be corruption-free, and law- abiding,” they added.—LDF, GMA News
