Duterte: Endorsing presidential bet to raise fears I'm using gov't money

President Rodrigo Duterte reiterated on Tuesday he is not endorsing any presidential candidate in Eleksyon 2022.

But he expressed anew his support for the vice presidential bid of his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte during his Talk to the People on Tuesday.

“I’m just announcing wala akong kandidato sino man sa pagka-presidente. I remain neutral. Ang akin kasi eh presidente ako tapos magkampi ako ng isa magdududa yung ginagamit ko yung resources ng gobyerno, magulo na,” he said.

(I’m just announcing that I don’t have any candidate for the presidency. I remain neutral because I’m the president and if I take sides, they will have doubts that I’m using government resources. It will be difficult.)

“Kaya nga wala kaming kandidato except of course my daughter so I have to mention her because she is my daughter ano man ang dynamics namin sa mga party nila anak ko yan eh so yun," he said.

"Ang isa pati yung mga senador na gusto ko sana ilagay dyan but I am not mentioning any names I’m just trying to avoid politicking baka masabit tayo sa Comelec (Commission on Elections),” he added.

(We don't have a candidate except of course my daughter, so I have to mention her because she is my daughter. Whatever our dynamics in the party, she is still my daughter so that's one. I would have wanted to name some senators, but I'm just trying to avoid politicking, we might get caught by the Comelec.)

Sara earlier said she is hoping to have the support of her father for her tandem with presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.  But she added she respects her father's decision not to endorse anyone.—LDF, GMA News
