Philippines logs 2,679 new COVID-19 cases from March 28 to April 3, 2022
The Philippines on Monday recorded a total of 2,679 new COVID-19 cases from March 28 to April 3, 2022 which was 2% lower than the cases reported last week.
According to the Department of Health’s (DOH) weekly case bulletin, the daily case average for the week was 382.
From March 21 to March 27, the country logged 2,726 new COVID-19 infections, with a daily case average of 389.
There were also 276 new cases reported on Monday, the DOH said in a later update, bringing the nationwide tally to 3,679,761.
The country’s active case count decreased to 34,799 from the 35,967 recorded on Sunday, with 690 new COVID-19 infections.
Data also showed that 692 severe and critical cases are currently admitted in hospitals due to COVID-19.
Of the 2,990 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 492 or 16.5% were occupied. Meanwhile 4,230 or 16.7% of the 25,340 non-ICU COVID-19 beds were in use.
Of the new cases this week, there was one tagged as a new severe or critical case.
More than 66.1 million individuals or 73.47% of the government’s target population are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The DOH said 12.1 million have received their booster shots.
At least 6.6 million senior citizens or 75.83% of the target A2 population have also received their primary vaccine series.
A total of 3,585,597 people have been counted as recoveries, while the death toll climbed to 59,365.
There were also 329 more verified deaths last week, according to DOH.
Of the 329 deaths, 116 occurred in March 2022 (35.3%), 81 in February 2022 (24.6%), 50 in January 2022 (15.2%), 5 in December 2021 (1.5%), 4 in November 2021 (1.2%), 16 in October 2021 (4.9%), 14 in September 2021 (4.3%), 9 in August 2021 (2.7%), 13 in July 2021 (4.0%), 19 in June 2021 (5.8%), 1 in May 2021 (0.3%), and 1 in March 2021 (0.3%).
Further, the regions with the most cases in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,546 infections, Region 4-A with 580, and Region 6 with 406.
A total of 13,947 individuals were tested as of April 3, with 284 laboratories being able to submit data.—LDF, GMA News
