Isko says stance vs. fake news non-negotiable after Mocha endorsement
Presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said his stance against fake new is "non-negotiable" even after accepting the endorsement of former assistant secretary Mocha Uson.
“Fake news is non-negotiable, that we both agree. Believe me, I agree with it wholeheartedly. I want those people to be liable and companies who cater to or ‘yung outlet for that should be made liable,” Moreno said at the KandidaTalks on Thursday when asked about his position on disinformation.
Moreno recenty found a new political ally in Uson, former official at the Presidential Communications Operations Office, who has been repeatedly criticized for allegedly spreading misinformation.
Uson said she switched to Moreno during the latter’s campaign rally in Cavite.
Moreno has previously said he will hold app companies liable for the proliferation of fake news on their social media platforms should he be elected.
Moreno said he needed a lot of help in his campaign.
“On a political perspective, kandidato ako, tumulong sila sa atin, then thank you very much. And I need a lot of help kasi mabigat ang laban ko. Remember outsider ko, ang kalaban ko puro pedigree,” he said.
“I’m coming from the outside, so any help will do. But there are principles in life na, diba, oy teka ito ang paniwala ko, I’ll stick with that. And if they believe in me, tutulong sila sa akin, tutulungan ninyo ako, kailangan ko talaga lahat ng uri ng tulong,” he added.
