Philippines records 577 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 45K
The Philippines on Sunday logged 577 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 3,674,286.
The country’s active case count decreased to 45,201, according to data posted on the Department of Health’s (DOH) website.
There were 45,339 active cases recorded on Saturday, with 525 new COVID-19 infections.
A total of 3,570,822 people have been counted as recoveries, while the death toll climbed to 58,263.
Latest data showed that 24.64% out of the 3,701 total intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide were in use.
At least 22.04% of the country’s 20,773 isolation beds were utilized, while 13.66% of the 14,037 ward beds nationwide were in use.
Meanwhile, in the National Capital Region (NCR), at least 24.68% of the 1,256 ICU beds were occupied. 21.44% of the region’s 4,613 isolation beds and 24.12% of the 3,943 ward beds were utilized.
The regions with the most cases in the past two weeks were the NCR with 2,135 infections, Region 4-A with 969, and Region 6 with 731.
A total of 18,670 individuals were tested as of March 19, with 302 laboratories being able to submit data.—LDF, GMA News
