Bongbong: Vaccination should be prioritized instead of Cha-cha talks
Presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said Wednesday that vaccination should be the priority instead of discussing the proposal to amend the 1987 Constitution.
Aside from vaccinating people against COVID-19, employment should also be a priority especially for those who lost their jobs amid the pandemic.
“Marami talagang dapat pag-usapan tungkol sa constitutional amendments. There are many things but I don’t know if that’s a priority right now,” Marcos said at a Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum.
“The priority right now is to get our people to complete, to be vaccinated and to get everybody back to work,” he added
War on drugs
When it comes to the controversial anti-drug campaign, Marcos said the next administration should run after the huge names of drug syndicates.
“If you go after the big guys, eh ‘yun naman ang nag-i-import eh so if you close shutdown their operations, shutdown their whole network, then nobody will import,” Marcos said.
The Philippine government should also work closely with its foreign counterparts in combatting illegal drugs.
He cited China as an example, saying that if needed, the Philippines should discuss with Chinese officials the problem on illegal drugs.
“We have to work more closely with international agencies and international police, with our neighbors in ASEAN even if we say that the main source is China then we talk to the Chinese and say you have to help us because what’s happening is coming from your place and it’s coming to us and it’s destroying the lives of young people,” he said.
Further, Marcos said drug prevention and rehabilitation should also be prioritized by the next administration.
Internet
At the same forum, Marcos internet woes in the Philippines must be addressed already.
At the forum, it was noticed that Marcos had experienced internet disconnection.
“I’m having internet trouble because the internet here has been… let’s talk about internet…” Marcos said.
“That’s something we need to attend to. I’ve spoken already to so many people about it and there are ways to do it,” he added.
Marcos expressed belief that the Philippines can also achieve the internet speed in South Korea.
“I always say if South Korea can do it, they are the fastest, most well-connected, biggest bandwidth for consumers, why can we not just do what they did?” Marcos said.
“Dami naman magaling na Pinoy sa IT, ang daming magaling na Pinoy, kayang-kaya nila ‘yan, (A lot of Filipinos are good in IT, they can do it),” he added. — RSJ, GMA News
