Sara Duterte increases lead over rivals for VP in Feb. 2022 Pulse Asia poll
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte dominated her rivals in the 2022 vice presidential race for the second straight pre-election Pulse Asia poll, scoring 53% as against far second and Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III who rated 24%.
The Pulse Asia survey, taken February 18 to 23 which is the first to be conducted since the campaign period for national candidates started last February 8, also showed Sara's rating increasing from 50% a month ago.
Sotto's rating, on the other hand, fell from 29% from a Pulse Asia survey released a month ago.
Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, for his part, was at far third with 11% which is the same as his previous rating.
Physician Willie Ong, on the other hand, scored 6% while Deputy Speaker Joselito Atienza only had 1%.
Other vice presidential bets only scored 0.1% or less, while those undecided or refused to answer the question on who to vote for vice president reached 4%.
Mindanao vote
The rating of Mayor Sara, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, is largely due to her 82% score among Mindanao voters.
Mayor Sara also scored 51% in the Visayas and 48% in the National Capital Region.
She scored the lowest in Balance Luzon with 41%.
Presidential bets
Meanwhile, for presidential bets, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. — Mayor Sara's presidential candidate — maintained his big lead among fellow presidential bets in the same survey, scoring 60%.
Vice President Leni Robredo was at a far second with 15%, followed by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno with 10%.
Senator Manny Pacquiao settled for fourth place with 8%, followed by Senator Panfilo Lacson with 2%.
Senate bets
As for Senate bets, broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo topped the senatorial preferences in the same Pulse Asia survey with 66.9%.
He was followed by Antique Representative Loren Legarda with 58.9%, former Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar with 56.2%, Taguig lawmaker Alan Peter Cayetano with 55.0%, Senator Miguel Zubiri with 50.5%, and Sorsogon Governor Francis Escudero with 49.8%.
The Pulse Asia poll used face-to-face interviews on 2,400 respondents aged 18 years old and above, who are registered voters and likely to vote in the May 2022 elections.
The Pulse Asia survey has a ± 2% error margin at the 95% confidence level.
Subnational estimates for each of the geographic areas covered in the survey (i.e., Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao) have a ± 4% error margin, also at 95% confidence level. —KG, GMA News
