941 new COVID-19 cases logged; active tally down to 49,374 –DOH
The Department of Health (DOH) logged 941 new COVID-19 infections on Saturday, bringing the nationwide COVID-19 tally to 3,666,678.
The Philippine active case count stood at 49,374, of which 416 are asymptomatic, 44,586 are mild, 2,736 are moderate, 1,344 are severe, and 292 are in critical condition.
The DOH said Of the 941 reported cases on Saturday, 833 or 89% occurred within the recent 14 days from February 20 to March 5, 2022.
The regions with the most new cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region with 223 or 27%, followed Region 4-A with 124 or 15%, and Region 7 with 80 or 10%.
Meanwhile, at least 1,784 more patients recovered from the viral disease, bringing the total to 3,560,425.
The death toll climbed to 56,879 with 109 new fatalities.
The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate increased to 3.8%, which was still within the World Health Organization's requirement target of less than a 5% positivity rate.
Total conducted COVID-19 tests were 26,737.
Based on the latest data, 25% of 3,700 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide are in use.
At least 14% of the 14,000 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 24% of the 3,900 ward beds in the NCR were in use.
The DOH said all laboratories were operational since March 3, while there was one laboratory that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
The Health Department reported that 10 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 10 were recoveries
At least 96 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation. — DVM, GMA News
