DOJ official Aglipay-Villar resigns to campaign for ex-DPWH chief husband
Justice Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar has resigned after nearly four years of service in the Department, the DOJ announced Monday.
In a message to reporters, Justice chief Menardo Guevarra said Aglipay-Villar’s resignation will be effective on March 21.
"It is with deep sadness that I announce the resignation of Atty. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar as undersecretary of the Department of Justice," Guevarra said.
"She will campaign for her husband, former DPWH secretary Mark Villar, who is running for senator in the upcoming elections in May," he added.
Guevarra said she will continue to work until her last day in office.
“Usec. Em will continue to work until her last day in office. As of today, no other Usec. or Asec. is leaving the DOJ,” he said.
Guevarra said Chief State Counsel George Ortha II will be the OIC undersecretary after Aglipay-Villar’s resignation takes effect.
Aglipay-Villar was appointed to the DOJ in 2018.
She was a former representative of the Democratic Independent Workers’ Association party-list prior to her appointment. — BM, GMA News
