Failure to resolve missing sabungeros' case an embarrassment to PNP, says Lacson
Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson said Thursday failing to resolve the issue on missing sabungeros will be a "big slap" to the Philippine National Police.
Lacson, a former PNP chief, made the statement during the start of the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs' inquiry into the rising number of cockfight enthusiasts reported missing.
"Thirty-one reported missing persons as of latest count, without any trace apparently, is a big challenge to the PNP and the entire law enforcement community," he said.
"Failing to resolve these cases will be a big slap or an embarrassment to the PNP as well," he added.
Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, panel chairperson, urged law enforcers to double their time in resolving the issue in order to "save lives."
"I'm urging you to please double time your effort baka may ma-recover pa tayong buhay dito," Dela Rosa, also a former PNP chief, said noting that a single case has not been solved yet.
