Marcos camp explains why Bongbong pulled right hand when left wrist was wounded
Lawyer Vic Rodriguez, spokesperson of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., on Monday explained why the former senator pulled his right hand when it was his left wrist that was supposedly wounded.
In an interview with reporters, Rodriguez said Marcos' action was a normal reaction, noting that it does not mean anything. He said the Marcos camp would "rather not dignify the undignified way of campaigning and peddling of lies being resorted to by their rivals."
"Normal na reaksyon 'yun pag ikaw ay nakurot 'di ba? Normal na reaksyon 'yun pag ikaw ay nagalusan, or medyo napiga 'yung kamay eh instinct 'yun eh. Kahit kanino mo gawin 'yun, instinct mo 'yun, para kang nagulat but it doesn't mean anything," Rodriguez said.
A video of Marcos seemingly shunning handshakes from supporters in Caloocan has been circulating on social media. Rodriguez already denied that the standard bearer of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas was avoiding handshakes from his supporters during campaign sorties.
Rodriguez said their camp does not need to explain the video circulating online.
"Baka nga napisil, baka nakurot o baka nakalmot. Again I don't have to explain it sapagkat kayo nga mismo, ikaw mismo ay nakakasaksi kung paano siya salubungin ng kanyang mga supporters at kayo rin mismo ang buhay na saksi kung paano siya makitungo sa kanyang mga supporters," Rodriguez said.
On Sunday, the BBM Media Bureau provided a photo of Marcos with the wound on his arm covered with a bandage.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec), through its Resolution 10372, prohibits Eleksyon 2022 candidates from shaking the hands of voters during the campaign period amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aside from handshakes, the Comelec resolution states that hugs, kisses, going arm-in-arm, or any action that involves physical contact among the candidate and their companions are also not allowed during motorcades. — RSJ, GMA News
