Missing records, data errors raised in securing VaxCertPH

Several individuals have complained about missing records or errors in their personal data as they apply online to get a vaccination certificate through the VaxCertPH.

They said they could not proceed in securing a certificate as their records were not found in the database of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

According to Chino Gaston’s “24 Oras” report on Friday, Angelberto Cahayon, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), has been applying for his new VaxCertPH after the QR code in his old certificate could no longer be scanned.

“Iniintay na nga po itong aking mga papel eh, kailangan po talagang ma-process. Mahirap po ang wala, baka mareject,” Cahayon said.

(They are waiting for my documents, these papers really need to be processed. If I lack one, I might get rejected.)

Some vaccinated individuals also found out they do not have a record when they try to apply online.

“It is not in the record, so I don’t know why. Two of my children, I applied online but they don’t have the record,” Ivy Rose Sano said.

The Quezon City Health Department said the errors could have been due to incorrect encoding. It can be corrected, but the record must be sent to the DICT and updated in the agency's database.

“Nagbase kami sa forms na sinubmit sa amin and then ieencode yun ng encoders. Nagdepende kasi sila sa penmanship ng vaccinee ng clients, kung hindi nila maiintindihan talagang mahihirapan din yung encoders,” Jayson Delos Santos, IT head of QC Health Department, said.

(We based it on the forms submitted to us which are encoded by our encoders. They also depend on the penmanship of the clients, if they don't understand what was written, it will be really difficult.)

“Pag ganung mga cases kinocontact po namin si DICT para mapabilis yung process pero yung correction inaabot siya, ang advise sa amin ay 24 hours,” he added.

(In some cases, we contact the DICT to speed up the process but to update the correction it will take at least 24 hours.)

The application for the vaccine certificate can be accessed at https://vaxcert.doh.gov.ph/.

For those who cannot find their vaccination records or have errors in details, they can upload the photos of their vaccination card and government ID with a picture at vaxcert.doh.gov.ph website. It will be sent to the DICT to update the corrections.

The public can also go to health offices in local government units and bring photocopies of their government IDs with picture and vaccination card.—Richa Noriega/LDF, GMA News
