PNP probes cops in Isabela campaign posters removal

The Philippine National Police is investigating the incident involving cops who were seen removing election campaign posters in Isabela, its spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said Friday.

Interviewed on Dobol B TV, Fajardo clarified that police personnel are not tasked to remove illegal campaign posters. Their job is to ensure the security of the task force who are designated to do it.

“Nakarating na po sa ating kaalaman yung videos and pictures na nakuhanan yung ilan nating mga pulis. At ito ngayon po ay subejct ngayon ng investigation,” she said.

(We are aware of the videos and pictures showing some of our police personnel. This is now subject for investigation.)

The involved cops and their immediate supervisors will be asked for their explanation regarding the incident, Fajardo added.

If they committed a violation, Fajardo said, they may face administrative cases and penalties, according.

On Wednesday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and other authorities started taking down election campaign posters that are either oversized or posted in restricted area under its Operation Baklas program. —LBG, GMA News
