Philippines' 2,010 new COVID-19 cases lowest daily tally this year
The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday logged the lowest daily COVID-19 tally this year with 2,010 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nationwide cases to 3,641,940.
Based on the Health department’s latest bulletin, the active cases stood at 72,305.
Of these cases, 1,498 are asymptomatic, 66,093 are mild, 2,961 are moderate, 1,441 are severe, and 312 are critical.
The DOH said of the 2,010 reported cases on Tuesday, 1,570 or 78% occurred within the recent 14 days from February 2 to February 15, 2022.
Among the top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 238 or 15%, followed by Region 4-A with 183 or 12% and Region 6 with 159 or 10%,
The Philippines' COVID-19 positivity rate was at 10.4%, which is still higher than the World Health Organization's requirement of less than 5%. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were at 20,084.
Total recoveries climbed by 6,293 to 3,514,489 while 52 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 55,146.
Based on the latest report, the DOH said all laboratories were operational since February 13, while five laboratories were not able to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
The DOH reported 12 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, nine are recoveries.
Meanwhile, at least 34 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
Data also showed that 34% of 3,900 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide are in use.
At least 25% of the 14,900 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 27% of the 4,200 ward beds in NCR were in use.—LDF, GMA News
