Motorists beat on each other with helmet, bat during road-rage incident
Motorists beat on each other with a crash helmet and a baseball bat after arguing became heated during a Quezon City road rage incident, Jonathan Andal reported Friday on “24 Oras.”
According to Barangay Bahay Toro security camera footage, a motorcyclist and car driver seemed to have resolved their traffic dispute peacefully.
A traffic enforcer said that everyone was calm at the beginning of the confrontation.
“Mapayapa nung una yun eh, nakuha nga namin yung baseball bat eh, pinasok sa kotse. Tapos nagkainitan na naman hindi na namin naawat eh kasi biglaan eh akala ko okay na kasi maayos na,” traffic enforcer Ronilo Espanillo said.
(It was peaceful at first. We got the baseball bat and put it in the car. Then they got into a heated argument again. We could not stop it. It was very sudden. It was okay at first.)
Based on the CCTV footage, the motorcycle rider suddenly stopped when a sidecar crossed in front of him. The red car behind was thus also forced to stop immediately.
The driver of the red car caught the attention of the motorcycle rider until they confronted each other in the middle of the road.
“Hindi naman nagkasagian, parang na ano lang git-git lang,” Espanillo said.
(They did not collide, they just got in each other's way.)
The motorists filed their statements at the barangay. While the motorcycle rider did not respond to the reporter's questions, the car driver refused to be interviewed.
The barangay officials said the two motorists had settled their dispute. — Richa Noriega/DVM, GMA News
