DOE: Another oil price hike seen next week

Motorists should expect another hike on petroleum products next week, an official from the Department of Energy (DOE) said.

According to Marisol Abdurahman's report on "24 Oras" on Thursday, lawyer  Rino Abad, director of the oil industry management bureau of the DOE said oil firms will have another price hike next week, marking the seventh straight week of increases.

"Mayroon po tayong nakikita na namang pagtaas... Hindi po natin masabi muna (kung magkano),"  he said.

With this, transport groups once again urged to government to increase the minimum jeepney fare to P10.

"Ibalik na 'yong P10 na inaprubahan nila noong 2018. Para naman ang ating mga jeepney drivers ay kahit paano makabawi... Naintindihan po natin, pandemya ngayon," Pasang Masda national president Obet Martin said.

"Dalawang taon po hindi kumita ang jeep... Hindi nagtaas kahit nahihirapan ang ating mga jeepney drivers," he added.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
