Comelec announces Inting designation as acting chairperson
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially announced the designation of Commissioner Socorro Inting as the acting chairman of the poll body.
The poll commission also disclosed the reorganization of the membership of the two Comelec divisions.
"Acting Chairperson Inting will serve in such capacity until a new Chairperson has been appointed and assumed office,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement.
“Given her stellar performance in helming the Gender and Development initiatives of the Commission these past years, and in streamlining various internal processes in the resolution of cases, we in the Commission are confident of the Honorable Acting Chair's leadership moving forward," he added.
According to the statement, Inting will preside over the Comelec First Division, which was previously headed by retired Commissioner Rowena Guanzon. She will be joined by Commissioner Aimee Ferolino.
Meanwhile, the Second Division, which was previously led by Inting, will be headed by Commissioner Marlon Casquejo. He will be joined by newly-appointed Commissioner Rey Bulay.
Moreover, the poll body said cases which are not yet raffled to a division, or those filed after February 9 will be raffled to the reorganized division.
“[C]ases respectively raffled to the former First and Second Divisions will be retained in the concerned Division in order to ensure the orderly, speedy and judicious disposition of the cases,” he statement read. —NB, GMA News
