Isko asks for chance, presents himself as another option for president

“Kamusta naman kayo after 39 years?”

Presidential candidate Francisco “Isko” Moreno posed this question as he presented himself as another option for president other than the supposed two colors of red and yellow in the Philippine political landscape.

At his proclamation rally at the Kartilya ng Katipunan on Tuesday, Moreno said the Philippines had spent 21 years under the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos and 18 under the Liberal Party (LP).

Moreno was referring to the presidencies of late President Corazon Aquino from 1986 to 1992, late President Benigno Aquino III from 2010 to 2016, and the vice presidency of presidential candidate Leni Robredo.  The three officials belong to LP.

Red is associated with the Marcoses while yellow is associated with the LP. Robredo, who is running as an independent candidate, chose pink as her color for Eleksyon 2022 to promote inclusivity.

Moreno, however, said the different hues did not change anything in the lives of the Filipinos.

“Maiba naman,” he added.

Moreno advised the public to choose something different if they wanted to experience change.

“Because if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, then don’t expect different results,” he said.

The Manila mayor also said that each presidential aspirant has his own strengths. He did not cite an example for Robredo and did not mention presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos.

So may kanya kanyang angking galing at mga karanasan,” he added.

He also called on his supporters to refrain from hiding behind social media accounts.
