3,574 new COVID-19 cases logged; 105K active tally lowest in a month
The Department of Health on Tuesday reported 3,574 additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the country's total tally to 3,619,633.
According to the DOH, the country's positivity rate was at 16.3%. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were 23,754.

The new infections brought the active cases to 105,550, of which 4,059 are asymptomatic; 96,722 are mild; 1,446 are severe; and 316 are critical.
This is the lowest number of active cases since January 8.
Of the new cases reported, the DOH said 3,116 or 87% occurred within the recent 14 days from January 26 to February 8.
The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region with 528 or 17%, Region 6 with 357 or 11%, and Region 7 with 308 or 10%.
Total recoveries also increased to 3,459,462 after 14,644 more patients recovered from the disease.
The death toll climbed to 54,621 with 83 new fatalities.
Of the 83 deaths, the DOH said 53 occurred in February 2022, 24 in January 2022, one each in December, October, September, August, July, and June 2021 due to the late encoding of death information to its system.
The DOH noted that 328 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 35 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
Latest data from the DOH also showed that 41% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 20% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.
In Metro Manila, 35% of the ICU beds are utilized, while 18% of the ventilators are in use.—LDF, GMA News
