Isko believes he can beat ‘Goliaths’ in political fight

History repeats itself.

This is what presidential aspirant Francisco “Isko” Moreno believes as he likened himself to David, a Biblical figure who was able to beat a man bigger than his size — Goliath —with a slingshot.

“The oldest history is in the Bible. Ang sinabi ‘yung mga matatangkad, matatayog, mga kilala, malalakas tinalo ni David na galing sa ordinaryong pamilya,” Moreno said in a statement.

Moreno also likened his opponents to giants, saying that Goliath’s defeat proves that nothing is impossible.

The Manila mayor also said he believes that anyone could achieve their goals through hard work.

“Naniniwala tayo sa buhay posible tayong umangat sa buhay. Naniniwala tayo sa pangarap kasi posibleng makamit natin ang ating pangarap. Pero para ito’y maging posible eh kailangan mo naman kumilos,” he said.

Moreno and other Aksyon Demokratiko candidates kicked off their campaign with a Holy Mass at the Sto. Nino Parish Church in Tondo.

This was followed by a motorcade around Manila with around 5,000 motorcycle riders joining the caravan.

Later, the party will hold a proclamation rally.

Moreno said he will address poverty, hunger, unemployment, inequality, and social injustice in the country by focusing on providing the minimum basic needs of the people if elected president. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
