VaxCert holders need to apply anew as old QR codes no longer scannable

The Department of Health has advised those who obtained their VaxCertPH before February 7 to apply again as the QR codes in old certificates are no longer scannable, GMA News’ Unang Balita reported Tuesday.

Some features of the vaccine certificates have already been updated.

In a radio interview, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Acting Secretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic said they added booster shot vaccination status and more security features.

Aside from this, Caintic said the update was also in preparation for the acceptance of VaxCertPH to other countries as the DICT is already in talks with the European Union.

“Magkakaroon narin ng bilateral acceptance between our vaccine certificate at saka yung mga European countries (We will also have a bilateral acceptance between our vaccine certificate and European countries),” he said.

The application for the vaccine certificate can be accessed at https://vaxcert.doh.gov.ph/.

Caintic noted that vaccination cards can still be used as a requirement for mobility and entry to establishments locally. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
