DOJ mulls lookout bulletin vs. Quiboloy, but request needed
The Department of Justice on Monday said it is mulling to issue an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) founder Pastor Apollo Carreon Quiboloy, but only if a complainant requests to do so.
This after Quiboloy and two other church members became wanted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation over sex trafficking charges.
"We may consider issuing an ILBO if the complainant(s) request it. Otherwise, we’ll act depending on the actual circumstances as they develop. Urgency or necessity for the ILBO is the key factor," Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said in a text message to reporters.
The DOJ had previously said it has yet to receive an official request for extradition of Quiboloy, adding that any request to extradite Quiboloy is governed by the Philippines-US extradition treaty.
Quiboloy was accused of participating in a labor trafficking scheme which allegedly brought church members to the US through fraudulently obtained visas, and forced them to solicit donations for a bogus charity.
Over the weekend, the KJC founder said the charges filed against him come with being the "Appointed Son of God."
Quiboloy's legal team said the accusers are only using Quiboloy's closeness with President Rodrigo Duterte to indirectly destroy the church leader. —LDF, GMA News
