Duterte in PPE, face shield goes on car ride with doctor

President Rodrigo Duterte went on a car ride in personal protective equipment on Thursday a few days after going on quarantine following his exposure to a household staff who tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a report on "24 Oras", Senator Bong Go released the photo showing Duterte in a PPE while wearing a face mask and a face shield.

The picture was said to have been taken on Thursday afternoon somewhere in Metro Manila.

Go said the woman beside Duterte was his personal doctor. The senator was also in the car.

Go and the doctor were wearing face masks.

Acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles earlier said that the President is under quarantine after being exposed to a COVID-19 case  onJanuary 30.

Since his COVID-19 exposure, Nograles said the President had been tested for COVID-19 twice using RT-PCR test and that both results yielded negative.

Nograles said the President went to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan for a regular check up, but has yet to respond to queries on the date of the President's check up.

Go also did not provide details on the date of the President's regular check up and if this occurred after or before the Chief Executive went on quarantine.

'No protocol breach'

Addressing reports that Duterte went to the hospital, Nograles said Duterte's  regular check-up at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center was not a violation of the country's quarantine protocols.

"There is no violation. Based on the assessment of the President’s physician, he was cleared to go and have his medical check up," Nograles said. —NB, GMA News
