Enchong Dee posts bail, no arraignment scheduled yet

Actor Enchong Dee has surrendered and posted bail over the cyber libel case filed against him, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Tuesday.

NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin confirmed that Dee surrendered to the NBI in Quezon City on Monday and was released at 9 p.m.

“Yes, he was taken into custody at NBI VTech Tower, Quezon City yesterday and released around 9 in the evening after posting bail, and [the] release order was issued by the Court,” Lavin told GMA News Online.

Lavin confirmed that Lee surrendered due to the cyber libel charges filed by DUMPER party-list Representative Claudine Bautista-Lim.

“That’s correct, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by a Court in Davao Occidental,” Lavin said.

Meanwhile, citing Regional Prosecutor Janet Fabrero, Justice spokesperson Emmeline Aglipay-Villar said there is no schedule yet for Dee’s arraignment.

“There is no schedule yet for the arraignment,” she said.

Aglipay-Villar said Dee was indicted for cyber libel last week.

“…the Information for cyber libel was filed last week. The RTC Branch 20 issued an E-Warrant. Yesterday, Dee posted bail for his temporary liberty,” Villar said.

According to Villar, the inhibition filed by Dee against the Regional Prosecution Office became moot and academic because the resolution was already released when it was received by the Office of the Regional Prosecutor.

“The motion for reconsideration was filed but also denied. Hence the information against him was finally filed last week,” she said.—AOL, GMA News
