Torres assumes post as NOLCOM commander

Lieutenant General Ernesto Torres Jr. on Monday assumed his post as new commander of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

During the change of command ceremony at Camp Servillano Aquino in Tarlac City, Torres acknowledged the “daunting task” of the position as the NOLCOM addresses security and territorial concerns.

“I know that assuming this post is very challenging and needs a lot of focus,” Torres said.

“It is a daunting task to lead this command with NOLCOM being one of the key units of the AFP that addresses both internal security and territorial defense challenges of our country,” he added.

AFP chief General Andres Centino, presiding officer of the ceremony, expressed confidence that Torres will perform well in his new position.

“I am confident that NOLCOM, under General Torres, will deliver more victories and successes to the AFP as it continues to fulfill its mission of combatting terrorism facilitating development and securing our maritime borders,” Centino said during the ceremony.
