Gov’t eyeing use of transportation hubs for vaccination, says Dizon

The national government is eyeing to utilize transportation hubs as COVID-19 vaccination sites, according to testing czar Secretary Vivencio "Vince" Dizon on Friday.

During a Go Negosyo forum, Dizon mentioned that aside from work places, ports and stations could also be used as additional areas for the inoculation of the public against COVID-19.

"We're also looking at expanding vaccinations to work places which PA Joey has already started with Go Negosyo and their partners and also in other high traffic areas such as transportation hubs. The DOTr will be launching in PITX soon," Dizon said.

"We hope to launch also in other transportation hubs, ports, airports, bus stations, train stations so that we can in conjunction with the policies now to protect our unvaccinated," he added.

Recently, the government launched booster vaccinations in at least seven pharmacies in Metro Manila. Dizon said this would be expanded to further boost the government's vaccination program.

According to Dizon, at least 57 million Filipinos are already fully-vaccinated against COVID-19 while some 60 million received their first dose.

Dizon added that six million already received their booster shots.

On Thursday, Vice President Leni Robredo suggested conducting testing and vaccination procedures in transportation hubs and terminals.

“Siguro sa malalapit sa transportation hubs, sa mga terminals, sa mga LRT at MRT stations, baka dapat accessible din ‘yung swabbing at saka vaccination. Kasi, these are where the people conglomerate eh and wala nang necessity for them to miss work,” she said.
