Bongbong-Sara team includes Zubiri, Gadon, Marcoleta in Senate lineup
The UniTeam ticket of presidential aspirant and former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has added three more names in its senatorial lineup for the 2022 elections.
In a statement on Thursday, Marcos' spokesperson Vic Rodriguez said these three are Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta, and lawyer Larry Gadon.
"The list represents a mixture of seasoned and proven political personalities who have excelled in their respective endeavors," Rodriguez said.
Zubiri has earlier been listed as one of the guest candidates of opposition standard bearer Vice President Leni Robredo.
Gadon, meanwhile, was one of the lawyers who filed an impeachment complaint against former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno. He has recently been suspended by the Supreme Court over a viral video showing him hurling profanities against journalist Raissa Robles. Gadon said such a move by the Supreme Court was politically motivated.
Marcoleta, on the other hand, was one of the members of the House of Representatives who voted to deny the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation in July 2020.
UniTeam's other Senate bets include former Public Works and Highways secretary Mark Villar, Antique Representative Loren Legarda, former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, former Defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, and former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista. —Llanesca T.
