DILG orders barangays to submit list of unvaccinated residents

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered barangay governments to submit a list of unvaccinated residents, its spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said Wednesday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Malaya said Interior Secretary Eduardo Año issued the order for the implementation of restricting the mobility of people who have yet to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Nagpalabas po si Secretary Año ng memorandum circular para magsagawa ang lahat ng mga barangay sa buong bansa para malaman ‘yung hindi pa nagpapabakuna sa barangay,” he said.

(Secretary Año issued a memorandum circular to conduct an inventory in all barangays in the country so we can determine who are not yet vaccinated in the barangay.)

Malaya added that this is in line with the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte to restrict the movement of unvaccinated individuals.

When inventory is already available, Malaya said barangays can now implement the restrictions on unvaccinated people through an ordinance.

The inventory will be passed every month to the DILG, Malaya said in a separate interview on ANC.

In Metro Manila, Malaya said only Pasig , Makati, and Navotas have yet to pass an ordinance on the restrictions. In the next few days, he said all of them will have their respective ordinances passed.

For other areas, Malaya said he was expecting that LGUs will also pass similar ordinances as the League of the Provinces of the Philippines already issued a resolution encouraging its members to do so. — RSJ, GMA News
