DND says no delivery yet of 2 attack helicopters from Turkey

The Department of Defense (DND) on Monday said the two T-129 attack helicopters the Philippines bought from Turkey have yet to be delivered.

"Contrary to information circulating online, as of 9 January 2021 the first two units of TAI [Turkish Aerospace Industries] T129 ATAK Helicopters have not arrived in the country," DND spokesperson Arsenio Andolong said in a statement.

"The Defense Department will provide updates on the project once it becomes available," Andolong added.

Previously, the DND said the Philippines purchased around six T-129 helicopters from the Turkish Aerospace Industries for around $269.3 million.  — Consuelo Marquez/RSJ, GMA News
