IATF seeking to shorten isolation for fully vaccinated health workers
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) on Thursday said it is seeking to shorten the isolation period for fully vaccinated health workers to five days.
During the "Talk to the People," Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said the IATF assigned the Department of Health to produce specific protocols on how to implement the shortened quarantine.
"Yung hospital infection prevention and control committees will be authorized dito sa mga hospitals... they will be authorized to implement shortened quarantine protocols for five days for fully vaccinated health care workers," said Nograles, who is also the co-chair of IATF.
"And then in extreme circumstances, yung mga fully vaccinated healthcare workers na under isolation in extreme circumstances and weighing risks and benefits, puwede rin ma-shorten ang kanilang isolation protocols," he added.
Likewise, Nograles said asymptomatic COVID-19 confirmed cases as well as close contacts may undergo home quarantine. The DOH will once again craft protocols on how to implement this.
"'Yung home isolation as mentioned kanina, yung home isolation ng COVID-19 confirmed individuals na asymptomatic mild or moderate disease and home quarantine of close contacts of suspect probable or confirmed COVID-19 cases," he said. -- BAP, GMA News
