FDA chief Eric Domingo resigns, says he did part to help over COVID-19 pandemic
Director General Dr. Eric Domingo on Monday confirmed his resignation as chief of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Domingo told GMA News Online that his resignation is effective today, January 3.
Asked for the reason of his resignation, Domingo said he does not have any specific reason.
"Wala naman dahilan," Domingo said when asked why he resigned. [There's no reason.]
"I think I did my part to help during the pandemic. I'm happy with that but now it is time to move on to other things," he added.
The DOH Media Team told reporters that Dr. Oscar Guiterrez, the deputy director general of FDA, was appointed as the department's officer-in-charge, replacing Domingo.
"Yes. We confirm the resignation of FDA Director General Eric Domingo. Dr. Oscar Gutierrez, Deputy Director General, FDA, was assigned as OIC," read the statement. —NB, GMA News
