Last batch of COVID-19 vaccines procured by gov’t in 2021 arrive

A total of 609,570 additional doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine doses arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Thursday night.

Interviewed by state media PTV, National Task Force against COVID-19 adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa  and US Embassy Consul Michael William Leach welcomed the shipment of vaccines, which were procured by the government.

"This last shipment completes all procurement by the government for the year 2021," said Herbosa at the NAIA Terminal.

So far, Herbosa said, the Philippines received 210 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from different manufacturers.

He, likewise, urged the public to get their second dose of COVID-19 vaccines as well as booster dose if eligible to protect themselves from the Omicron variant.

As of December 28, government data showed that more than 48 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated versus COVID-19 while more than 1.6 million have received their booster dose. — Consuelo Marquez/BM, GMA News
