Bongbong, Sara lead OCTA presidential, vice presidential surveys

Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte are the current top preferences for president and vice president in the 2022 polls, based on a poll conducted by OCTA Research Group.

Results of the Tugon ng Masa survey conducted from December 7 to 12 indicated that Marcos scored 54% across the country. He was the top in most regions, especially in the Duterte bailiwick Mindanao, where he received 63%.

Marcos was followed by Vice President Leni Robredo, who scored a national average of 14%. She received 7% in the National Capital Region, 17% each in Balance Luzon and the Visayas region, and 8% in Mindanao.

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso came in third with 12%, followed by Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao with 10%, and Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson with 5%.

Presidential aspirants Ernie Abella got 0.02%, while Leody De Guzman received 0.001%.

Out of the survey respondents, some 16% indicated possible changes in their preference—3% said they will definitely change their choice, while 13% hinted “likely” changes to their choice.

Some 21% said they may or may not change their choice, 24% said they are unlikely to shift, and 39% said they are fixed with their preference.

VP race

In terms of vice presidential candidates, the presidential daughter topped the choices with 50%. Broken down per region, she received 71% in Mindanao, 46% in the Visayas, 44% in Balance Luzon, and 40% in the NCR.

Duterte was followed by Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto II with 33%, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan with 9%, Doctor Willie Ong with 4%, Deputy Speaker Jose “Lito” Atienza Jr. with 1%, and Walden Bello with 0.07%.

Senators

For the senatorial candidates, the same results indicated that broadcaster Raffy Tulfo was the top choice with 66%, followed by Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero with 60%, and Taguig Representative Alan Peter Cayetano with 60%.

They were followed by Antique Representative Loren Legarda with 58%, Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri with 57%, former vice president Jejomar “Jojo” Binay with 48%, former Public Works secretary Mark Villar with 48%, President Rodrigo Duterte with 47%, and former senator Jinggoy Estrada with 39%.

Rounding up the top 12 are Senator Sherwin Gatchalian with 38%, actor Robin Padilla with 37%, and Senator Joel Villanueva with 33%.

They were followed by Senator Risa Hontiveros with 32%, former senator JV Estrada, former senator Antonio Trillanes IV, former senator Gringgo Honasan, former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, Jr., and former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista.

The survey was conducted on December 7 to 12, 2021, with a total of 1,200 male and female respondents aged 18 years and above. The results have a margin of error of ±3%.
