Recovered bodies in Odette-hit Palawan town rise to 8


The number of corpses recovered in Palawan's Roxas town increased to eight after Typhoon Odette ravaged communities there last December 16, Super Radyo dzBB reported on Sunday.

According to Junfred Calamba's radio report, the number of deaths in the town rose after the Roxas Fire Station recovered the body of a missing person from Barangay Tumarbong.

Meanwhile, authorities were continuing search and retrieval operations for five individuals who were still missing after Odette's devastation.

For the whole of Palawan, local governments there documented 19 fatalities and 10 missing individuals in Odette's aftermath.

Nationwide, the death tally from Odette rose to 378 people while 60 people are still missing.

Odette impacted 3,953,880 people or 1,012,997 families in Mimaropa, Region 5, Region 6, Region 7, Region 8, Region 9, Region 10, Region 11, Region 12, CARAGA, and BARMM. — DVM, GMA News
