Kiko eyes forgiveness, reconciliation with Tito after Eleksyon 2022
Senator Kiko Pangilinan is looking forward to "reconciliation and forgiveness" with Senate President Tito Sotto and his family when the dust of the vice presidential elections settles in 2022.
In an episode of The Mangahas Interviews Special Election Series, Pangilinan said their family also had their share of disagreements like most families.
"Ang pamilya namin ay hindi rin iba kaya lang very public," Pangilinan told journalist Malou Mangahas.
"Ang aking naging pahayag ay sana magkaroon din sa dulo ng reconciliation at forgiveness doon sa sabihin nating the hurt that may have been caused because of this decision," he added.
Pangilinan is the running mate of Vice President Leni Robredo while the Sotto is the vice presidential candidate of Senator Panfilo Lacson.
Sotto is the husband of Helen Gamboa, an aunt of Pangilinan's wife Sharon Cuneta.
Pangilinan said he informed Sotto before announcing his own vice presidential candidacy.
He said that while it was tough for him to run against family, Pangilinan said it was a decision based on duty.
"Hindi man natin ginusto, nakita natin na ito'y para sa bayan," he said.
Further, Pangilinan called on the public to stop believing in fake news amid speculations that he is having extramarital affairs.
"Itigil na nila ang kasinungalingan kasi wala namang totoo diyan sa mga pinagkakalat sa akin. Every election mula pa noong 2001, lumalabas na 'yang paninira, fake news, disinformation," he said.
He added he already filed cases against those behind the rumors. —NB, GMA News
