Gordon on Pharmally issue: Justice on hand, evidence overwhelming

Senator Richard Gordon on Tuesday expressed confidence that the Senate blue ribbon committee would get justice on the Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation’s procurement issue even under the current administration.

“We don’t wait for the next president [to hand out justice on the issue]. We can do it even if we have a bad president in office because the evidence is so overwhelming,” Gordon said in an ANC interview.

The senator lamented that justice is no longer pursued when the public’s attention is no longer focused on the issue.

“Ang problema lang satin tatagalan nila ‘yan e tityempo lang ‘yan…nakalimutan na. Kailangan ikukulong mo. Ang problema wala [nakukulong] kaya hindi na naniniwala ang tao,” he noted.

(The problem is they are prolonging the case until the public forgets about it. We need to jail them. The problem is no one is being jailed that is why the public is no longer trusting the system.)

Gordon is currently at odds with President Rodrigo Duterte as the Senate continues to probe the transfer of P42 billion COVID-19 funds from the Department of Health to the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM).

This includes PS-DBM’s purchase of P8.6 billion worth of face masks, face shields, and PPEs from Pharmally, a firm that only had a P625,000 paid-up capital when it entered transactions with the government.—LDF, GMA News
