PNP pushes for 'no jab, no duty' policy among personnel
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said it will draft the guidelines for its “no jab, no duty” policy among its personnel amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press conference, PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos said the police organization will come up with a memorandum circular for the new policy.
“In the coming days, we are coming up with a Memorandum Circular to spell out the guidelines in the implementation of the ‘No Jab No Duty’ policy among PNP personnel,” he said.
“As public servants and officers of the law, it is our responsibility to uphold public welfare at all times and lead by example in fulfilling the citizen’s duty to promote public health and safety.”
Based on PNP latest data, at least 212,080 or 93.98% of its personnel have been fully vaccinated, while 11,788 or 5.22% are waiting for their second dose.
Meanwhile, around 1,808 or 0.80% of PNP personnel have yet to be vaccinated, including 859 with valid reasons and 949 without valid reasons.
“Directly affected by this policy are some 900 unvaccinated PNP personnel who are yet to offer any reasonable excuse for their continued refusal to be vaccinated despite all the opportunities provided,” Carlos said. —KBK, GMA News
