8 million vaccinated during Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 vax drive —NVOC

Around 8 million individuals were inoculated against COVID-19 during the November 29 to December 1 vaccination days, an official of the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) reported Friday.

In an interview on Unang Balita, NVOC chairperson Myrna Cabotaje said this was almost 90% of the 9 million target of the government.

“May mga dumating pa na datos, mga report, medyo nahuli kasi nga ‘yung ating connectivity and all (more data and reports came in but a bit late because of our connectivity and all),” she said.

At the Laging Handa briefing, Cabotaje said Region IV-A, Region III, and Region VII were the top-performing regions, contributing a third of the 8 million jabs during the vaccination days.

Meanwhile, the top-performing provinces were Cebu, Negros Occidental, and Cavite.

The government earlier extended the vaccination days until Friday, December 3, in order to sustain the public enthusiasm to get vaccinated.

“We have allowed certain LGUs na gustong mag extend ng kanilang bakunahan. Ang unang nag-request ang ating BARMM because maganda ang response,” Cabotaje said.

(We have allowed certain LGUs that want to extend their vaccination. BARMM was the first to request because of the good response it received.)

She said Region V, Region VI, Region XII, and Region VII have extended their vaccination drive after recording high vaccination rates on Thursday.

Cabotaje has also reiterated the call on companies to excuse employees who are participating in the extended vaccination drive from work.

The Health official also said the planned second wave of the COVID-19 vaccination days from December 15 to December 17 will push through.

“Based on our latest we still have about 21 million na hindi pa nababakunahan (that have yet to be vaccinated). Syempre (of course), we will like to reach our target of 54 million fully vaccinated by the end of the year,” she said.—AOL, GMA News
