France donates 1.6 million AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses to Philippines
A total of 1,632,900 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine donated by the French government arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday afternoon.
The additional vaccine supply arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 past 4 p.m.
The country officially rolled out its vaccination program on March 1.
At least five million doses have been administered in the first two days of the three-day nationwide vaccination drive, according to government data.
The government had sought to administer three million doses per day for three consecutive days.
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. on Wednesday said the National Task Force Against COVID-19 would recommend to President Rodrigo Duterte to extend the national vaccination drive until Friday.
