Comelec: Petition filed vs. Raffy Tulfo's senatorial candidacy

A petition was filed to cancel the certificate of candidacy (COC) of broadcaster and senatorial aspirant Raffy Tulfo ahead of Eleksyon 2022, Commissions on Elections (Comelec) spokesperson James Jimenez said on Thursday.

During an online press briefing, Jimenez said the petition was filed by Julieta Pearson last October 25.

“I just have the name that file it is Julieta Pearson filed on October 25,” Jimenez said.

The copy of the petition was not immediately available.

The GMA News Online sought comment from Tulfo’s camp regarding the issue but he has not yet replied as of posting time.

The broadcaster has topped the latest Social Weather Stations' senatorial preference poll ahead of May 2022 polls.

Tulfo said he would run as an independent to keep his loyalty to the Filipino people and not to any politician.

He filed his COC before the Comelec on October 2. -NB, GMA News
