Revilla offers chairmanship of Lakas-CMD to Sara Duterte

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Wednesday offered the chairmanship of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

“In full support of Mayor Sara Duterte's candidacy for vice president, I am offering her my post as chairman of Lakas-CMD,” Revilla, the party’s current chairman, said in a statement.

“I have full trust and confidence in Mayor Sara Duterte's leadership, I believe that she will steer the party towards victory in 2022,” he added.

GMA News Online has reached out to Mayor Sara and her spokesperson, Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Frasco, for comment, but they have yet to respond as of posting time.

On November 11, Mayor Sara joined Lakas-CMD after resigning from the Hugpong ng Pagbabago, the regional party she founded.

Two days later, Mayor Sara filed her certificate of candidacy for vice president for Eleksyon 2022 via the substitution route.

Mayor Sara confirmed on Tuesday that she would run alongside presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. — VBL, GMA News
